Biography

Hema Seth is an award-winning Indian Director, Writer, Producer, and multidisciplinary storyteller whose work explores the intersection of culture, heritage, spirituality, human experiences, and emerging technologies. With an MBA in Information Technology, she brings together creative storytelling, strategic communication, and technology to create films that connect contemporary audiences with stories rooted in cultural memory and lived experience.

Her filmmaking practice spans documentaries, cultural films, animated narratives, socially conscious stories, and technology-driven cinematic projects. She is particularly interested in documenting India’s intangible cultural heritage, spiritual traditions, community practices, environmental concerns, and human stories, while exploring innovative approaches to storytelling.

Hema’s films have received recognition and selections at film festivals and cinematic platforms in India and internationally. In 2026, three of her films were selected by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) for screening at the AI Immersive Theatre during the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, bringing her work before technology leaders, innovators, policymakers, and international delegates.

One of her films was selected among the Top 10 films at the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2026 by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, and NFDC, and received a special screening at the festival.

Her recent international festival selections include Awesome International Film Festival, New York; Verashort International Film Festival, Mexico; MISTER VORKY International Festival of Cinema Art, Serbia; DO PÃO – International Documentary Film Festival, Portugal; Corleone Film Festival – Cinema, Arte e Cultura per il riscatto dell'identità territoriale, Italy; Best Shorts Competition, California; AI Film 3 – AI Film and Art Festival, Arizona; SHE Creates Shorts Fest & Expo, Ohio; and MORPHÉ Film Festival.

Her work has also been selected and screened at Festival du Dessin Animé de Bruxelles and Anima Mundi Film Festival, Brazil, among other international platforms.

Hema has received multiple awards for her filmmaking. Two of her films have received Best Film awards, recognizing her work across diverse cinematic themes. At the 001 Funartt Film Awards, her film received the Best Film Award in the Environmental/Climate Short category.

Her growing portfolio includes more than 19 films selected and screened at film festivals and cinematic platforms in India and around the world. Her films explore themes including faith, identity, cultural memory, heritage, community, environmental consciousness, technology, social realities, and the human experience.

Through filmmaking, Hema seeks to preserve stories that may otherwise be forgotten while finding contemporary and innovative ways to bring them to wider audiences. Her work reflects a continuing commitment to meaningful cinema that connects tradition with technology, local stories with global audiences, and human experiences with new forms of visual storytelling.
